  1. Isn't Geraldine Brooks just the most wonderful writer? I first met her through the The Year of Wonders - which was a totally enthralling story about the plague and its impact on village. Her research is so meticulous that you have the total visceral immersion into the world that she is creating - or recreating. March is a wonderful window into the unexplored element of "Little Women" and is able to call forth to the modern reader that realities of the civil war for so many who were caught up in it. The People of the Book is also another wonderful journey which I found myself willingly surrendering to - the sweep of history that is attached to such as document is both fascinating and inspiring. I can't wait for her next work.
